Tonja’s mixed media pieces are a combination of photography and painting.  The process begins with a photo that Tonja has taken or a historical photo. She edits the photo, prints it on canvas and paints on the canvas with oils. The process of creating the final piece includes a bold yet controlled procedure of applying paint, leaving brush strokes, exposing parts of the photo and transforming the photograph into a painting.  She loves creating a beautiful piece of art that speaks to the heart of the viewer, especially when the image alone may not normally get a second look.

As you consider bringing a piece into to your home, please know, Tonja's desire is to create an image to touch the heart of the viewer. She strives to have her pieces to find a home that brings peace and enjoyment to the collector for years to come.  She carefully searches for a meaningful message through the image, paint and composition. She only uses professional grade oil paint.  She stretches the canvas herself on heavy duty stretcher bars for quality results.
